Just a quick update cause we want to get back to the hospital. Well, not only is the NICU closed from 6am to 12pm, but then they had to stay closed because they were doing an operation on another baby. So, we didn't get to even see Sofia until after 3pm. But, it turns out that the operation that they were doing was on the CDH baby they transferred here from Austin. They were taking him off ECMO. So, this means that if Sofia does require ECMO that she won't have to be transferred to another hospital. We hope that she won't need it ,though, and all of her blood gases have shown no sign of her needing it. Now she has had some setbacks today. When we left her last night her O2 was at 58 (the lower the better) but, when we got there today it was at 98 whichis the max. Sofia is also maxed out on the meds for her blood pressure which has been low. So, the Doc told us that they have done all the medical treatment they can for now and Sofia needs to do some work now. The Doctor also said that Sofia's xrays that were done this morning were beautiful, the best she has seen. There were no signs of anymore free air. She does still have the chest tubes in though. So, now we will have to wait a little longer before they start waking her up. Ivan and I will be staying at the Ronald McDonald House now so that we can be closer to her. I will try and update again as soon as I can. Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers. God Bless
Love, Catherine
P.S. I have posted some more pictures to the album on April 19, 2006. These are from her Baptism.

Thanks for sharing the baptism pictures! They are lovely! I am glad that the x-rays seem positive. I hope her O2 gets where it needs to be. Sofia seems like a fighter just from what I have read in your blog so far so I think she can beat this!
Continued prayers for Sofia!

Reading of all the updates of your Beautiful Sophia remind me of the years I worked in the NICU!!! You are all in my prayers and I hope that she improves with every passing hour and will be strong and well soon!! God Bless you Ivan, Catherine and Sophia! Love to you all Joan
Well, I haven't been able to see my little niece in person, but she is a beautiful little flower in her pictures! I did, however, get to see her beautiful mother, my gorgeous little sister who has blossomed into an incredibly strong and patient Mom! I am so proud of you Catherine, I have no doubt that Sofia has the best Mom that God could find for her. I know that He has placed his angels with her to surround her with His love to comfort her and give her strength. And you are one of those angels!
She is such a special little girl, and I can't wait for all of us to get the chance to know her as well as you do! You and Sofia are always in my prayers and I know God's angels are with you both to guide you through this. I know she is a strong little girl, and she will keep fighting for the chance to come home with her wonderful Mommy!
I love you Catherine and Sofia! I pray that you both can come home to us soon!
LOTS of Love,
Maggie
