Still Fighting!

Sofia has had another great day! Her O2 is at 26 and the nurse said that we could wean that more, but she doesn't want to push Sofie. The Dr wrote orders today for them to no longer sedate Sofia and they are weaning her pain meds every 12 hours, so she will be off that by Wednesday morning. They took out her art line today and now are doing her blood gases only once a day by getting the blood from her feet. The only problem we are having is that when she cries she cries and turns blue cause she gets so mad! But, the nurses said that she is just really upset and it is hard to comfort her because she is hungry. Hopefully we can start feedings in the next couple of days. They said they will probably try and bottle feed her since she really likes pacifier. If she takes to a bottle well then they will let me breastfeed. Sofia is holding her own body temp so her heater is no longer on her bed. They will be graduating her to the other side of the NICU in a couple of days and said she may go into a regular crib since she doesn't require a heater. I get to take a mobile for her bed tonight. They have fish painted above her bed and she really likes to stare at them, she even smiles at them. Maybe it is the glitter they are outlined with. I did get to hold her up last night while the nurse changed her linens, but have not held her close to me yet. Hopefully tonight I will get that chance!

We will update again soon. Thanks for reading. Please keep praying for Sofia and all CDH babies especially Jaylyn, Audrey, Jackson and Andrew who are all fighting strong! Stay strong little Miracles!

Love, Catherine

I have been out of town for about a week and a half and was so thrilled to read all of the updates that I missed! It sounds like Sofia is really doing well and I am so happy about that! I also hope you get to hold her close very soon. There is nothing quite like holding your baby close and I can't wait to read your post saying you finally got to experience it. I also can't wait to see pics! Sofia is quite the fighter and I pray for her daily!

Prayers for Sofia and all CDH babies!
