Movies, Earrings & Updates

Okay, I know I promised that I would post after Sofie's appointment on Wednesday, but I have had absolutely no time. I am sorry, once again. Sofia's appointment went well. She weighed 11lbs and is 23 inches. She seems to be tolerating the Lactose Free Formula well, so we aren't going to make any changes there. We are now giving her an ounce of Gerber Apple/Prune Juice diluted with an ounce of water a day to help her poop easier and the doctor wanted us to try this first instead of putting her on another med. I know that is exactly what you all wanted to know! She doesn't seem to like the juice much, but I do manage to get her to drink it all throughout the day. So, since everything seems well we don't see the doctor again until her 4 month wellness check up.

Ivan left on Friday and won't be back until sometime in August. Then he leaves again and won't be back until January. That is going to be pretty hard. I love watching them together, he loves her so much and I know that she thinks the world of him, too.

Anyway....

Grandma and Papa Alvarado and Uncle Tavo are in Hawaii for a week! We talked to them today and they are having a great time, but then again who wouldn't it is Hawaii! They miss Sofia, though! I don't know if I mentioned this before, but my Sister Maggie, her husband Mike and thier kids are moving to Germany. I am excited for them cause I know how much I loved living overseas and the experiences I had, but it sucks cause I am really going to miss them. We all are. Mike leaves this weekend and Maggie, Isa and Noah leave next month. Now I get to see Germany again and take Sofie with me!

My baby girl has had a crazy weekend! Yesterday, my Mom and I took her to her first movie actually movies. We went to the Drive-In and saw Pirates of the Carribean and the beginning of Cars. I couldn't make it through the whole movie, I was too tired. Sofia did really well! Then today I played the role of the mean, cruel Mommy! I took my poor, innocent baby girl to have her ears pierced. I am not sure who cried more, Sofia, Mommy or Nana! I felt so bad. Then like 10 minutes later she passed out. I guess all the crying wore her out. I felt better though once she woke up and gave me one of her big, beautiful smiles! I knew she still loved me! She has done great with them since. She let me clean them and turn them and didn't seem to care. Sofia loves her baths so I decided tonight that I would give her a bath in the big tub and get in with her. She loved it! I think she thought it was funny that I was in her bath with her. She figured out that she could kick her leg and it would splash and she kept doing it over and over and would just sit there and stare at it with a big smile on her face. I knew that my baby was dark, but it wasn't until bath time that I realized how white I was! When she was sitting on my legs I couldn't believe how much darker than me she was. Keith, you would be so proud of her!

Baby Audrey is still doing great at home, it will be a week tomorrow! Baby Jackson was finally extubated and seems to be doing great! Tomorrow Baby Julia will be having heart surgery, so please say a special prayer for her and her family. Baby Mert's Mommy will be induced on Tuesday, July 11. So, he should be here sometime that day. Please pray for strength for Baby Mert and his Family as their battle with CDH begins. I also want to ask for prayers for another CDH baby. Baby Gabriel was born on July 6 and passed away after spending only 30 precious minutes on Earth with his family. Please keep his family in your prayers.

I am really going to try and add some links and make some updates this week. So, keep checking in. I feel like there was something else I wanted to say, but I am sure this is long enough for now! I will write some more soon. Please keep Sofia and all CDH babies in your prayers. God Bless

Love, Catherine

Aw! Sofia looks adorable with her new earrings! My daughter is 14 months old and I am still too chicken to get her ears pierced! Before she was born I swore I was going to do it by the time she was 9 months old. So far it hasn't happened!

I used to take baths with my daughter too when she was smaller. I can just imagine how Sofia found it funny. My daughter did too, lol!

I am glad things are going so well! I can tell how much you and your family love Sofia and I am glad she is HOME! I will pray for Ivan while he is gone and I hope that he will be back with you before you know it!
