Hi Everyone!
First of all, Ivan and I would like to thank each and every one of you for stopping in to keep updated on our baby girl, Sofia. I am now 33 weeks pregnant and I am feeling great! My due date is April 23. I am starting to become more and more anxious to meet little Sofie, but I also love having her inside of me and feeling every little move she makes. Sofia is very active!
Sofia was about 4lbs 6oz at the last appointment that they measured her. My appointments are weekly now, so they only measure her every 3 weeks. She should be gaining about 1/2lb a week, so the next time they measure her she should be about 6lbs! At this rate she may be a pretty big baby! I do get sonograms weekly, too, so I will post those for you all to enjoy. Ivan wanted me to comment on how beautiful she is! It is amazing how much you love your babies before they are born which I am sure all of you who are parents can relate to.
Right now Sofia is not aware that there is anything wrong with her. She is fine for now cause she is breathing through me. Sofia's condition is called Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). Basically what that is is when her diaphram was forming, it didn't completely form allowing some of her abdominal contents to move into her chest cavity. This has pushed her heart to the right side and is not allowing her lungs to develop normally. I have included a link on what CDH is so that it can better help you to understand what it is and the severity of it. The link to Cherubs, is to a site that is a support group for families of CDH children. It was set up by parents and is really easy to understand and to get around in.
Well, that is it for now. My Baby Shower is tomorrow so I need to get some rest! Before I go though I would like to make a few Prayer Request. I have met 3 other expecting Mommies whos babies also have CDH. They are Lauren and her unborn baby girl, Avery, who are in Canada, Kimberly and her unborn baby boy, Jackson, who are in Houston, and Jennifer and her unborn baby girl, Audrey, in Dallas. Both Lauren and Kimberly are also first time Mommies and are both due this week. So, please keep these Mommies and their babies and all CDH babies in your prayers. Thank you for thinking of Sofia and for your prayers.

Just read your email, its great to hear from you. Im on holiday at the moment with mum and joel in thailand, having a great time. Hope all goes well for you and Ivan and the baby. You are in my prayers.

Hi cuz,your blog is excellent and baby Sofia is so gorgeous (just like her mum)!! The scan pictures are fantastic, Sofia is so cute. We are all thinking of you Catherine and the baby. Say hi to your mum and Ivan from all your Edison cousins in Liverpool, England.
