Another Quick Update

Sorry I didn't have a chance to post anything yesterday, but total exhaustion is really setting in. Sofia is doing better and is being slowly weened off one of the medications for her blood pressure. Her O2 is also slowly being weened, when we left this evening it was at 70. They also weaned her Nitric Oxide down to 28. The Neonatologist usually come and talk to the parents at least once a day to give an update on there child, today Dr. Pierce came over and said that she wasn't even going to waste our time talking with us cause Sofia was doing so well, unless we had any questions for her! That was nice to hear. Again, today they had kept the NICU closed due to an operation. We didn't get in until 4pm. They try and do operations during their closed period, and they did, but then that same baby had to have a second emergency operation. She is the preemie born at 22 weeks. It turns out that her Mom remembers Ivan from when he was a lifeguard at the pool in our neighborhood 10 years ago! I thought that was funny cause that is where Ivan and I met! She is a very tiny baby, but is a little fighter!

Tonight when Ivan and I went back to the hospital they had Sofia on her side. We had never seen her in that position or seen her back. She is sooooo cute! I asked the nurse, who we all really like, if she could change Sofia's diaper so I could see her little bum! Well, she said that the diaper was so big on Sofia that she could just pull it down. It is so adorable and so tiny! I just loved it! I am obsessed with her bottom and Ivan is obsessed with her toes! He loves playing with them. Sofia also has some very long fingers! Her nurse said that she was probably going to try and was Sofie's hair sometime tonight, so I hope she gets to. Sofia hasn't had a bath yet, so you can only imagine what her hair looks like! She is so beautiful though that we don't even notice it, or all the tubes and wires she has. They had placed an IV in her head and I didn't even notice it till Ivan asked what they were using it for like hours after we had been there. I did witness them suctioning her yesterday, and it was a little scarey. They didn't explain to me what exactly they were going to do. When the stuck the tube down the other tube to suction it stopped her chest from moving, it scared the hell out of me! I had to stop watching. They also did a lot of repostioning yesterday when we were there that made me nervous. But, Sofia did great! I think she probably welcomed being repostioned. She is so long and doesn't fit on the cusion very well, so her little feet had been hanging off, but the nurse had Ivan help her move the cusion while she picked Soifa up, I was jealous seeing her hold my baby, but again nervous that it was going to agitate Sofie. But, she did great!

Well, tomorrow I am hoping that we should hear some info as far as their plans for Sofia. The surgeons will be at the hospital cause the CDH baby born the same day of Sofia is having her repair surgery tomorrow. So, I am sure they will take a look at Sofia again to try and figure things out and make their plans.
Well, I have tried uploading some new pictures, but it isn't working right now. They are on the "Sofia's Pictures" link, though. There are a couple from yesterday and some from today. I will update again when I can. Thank you all again. Please continue to keep Sofia in your prayers. God Bless.
Love, Catherine
