Happy 6 Month Birthday, Baby Girl!

Today was such a busy, irritating, painful day for my baby! We first went to pick up her Halloween Portraits from JCPenny and I have to tell you they are too cute! I can't wait to share them with you all, but you have to wait till Halloween! Then we went to her Check up and the nurses had so much fun with Sofie! They asked me to undress her down to her diaper and as I did the nurse tickled Sofie and she cracked up! The nurse couldn't believe it, she couldn't believe how interactive Sofia was. Sofia is very ticklish when she doesn't have clothes on. She asked me if she could take Sofie to show her off to all the nurses. Of course I said yes!!! Anyway, then we got down to business. Sofia weighed 15lbs 12oz and is 27 inches long! This is the 90th percentile for length and just under the 50th for weight. She is sooooo long! When the doctor came in she said all the nurses for out there trying to get one another to give Sofie her shots cause they didn't want to upset her cause she was so happy! Well, they decided and Sofia got 3 shots. We will go back once they have the flu shot for her. I guess the way it works is that each insurance sends out there own supply of it. So, we have to wait for our clinic to receive it from our insurance. Well, I am not sure if I wrote this last time, but on Saturday the hospital call and said that Sofia's urine tested positive for Ecoli. This freaked me out cause I wasn't sure what it meant. Well it turns out she has a urinary Tract Infection. So, today her doctor told me since she is under a year and has a UTI she wants to check that her kidneys were functioning okay. So, we had to take her to have an ultrasound done of her kidneys and then they did a test where they put a catheter in and put in a dye to make sure that she urinated all the fluid out and that none of it whent into her kidneys. She passed! Everything is okay. It is just an infection. Her fever is gone though, so I am very happy about that. She was in a lot of pain this evening, though, so I gave her more tylenol. She is now asleep for the night!
Thank you all for the prayers for my Grandfather. His surgery that was supposed to only last 2 hours ended up being an 8 1/2 hour surgery! It was pretty scary though. They were placing stints and were only supposed to put in 2. Then they called and said they were placing a third and then a fourth, but that they couldn't get the fourth in and that 2 of the others were leaking. They then brought in another surgeon and said they were going to try got another 30 minutes and that if they couldn't that they were going to have to open him up. Well, about 2 hours later the surgeon came out and said they were done, they had to place a fifth one, too, but they didn't have to open him up. They also decided to keep him intubated since he was under for so long. He seems to be doing well today, but is still intubated. I will keep you posted on his recovery.
I have another prayer request for a new CDH baby. Katie Isabelle was born on Monday, October 16. She is doing very well and will be having her repair surgery any day! Please keep Katie and her family in your prayers.
Thank you all for your prayers and please keep them coming!
God Bless
Love, Catherine
