Not Yet!

Again, my appointment went really well today. My cervix is still completely closed, so Sofia is going to wait a little longer! Dr. Nayar, my OB, did talk to me about being induced as early as next week. This decision is up to me, though. My AFI (amniotic fluid index) has increased from 26 to 31 since last week, so he is worried about me being uncomfortable and having too much pressure from the extra fluid. I told him that I am feeling fine and that I really don't feel any extra pressure and that I am not uncomfortable, yet. I think that since my belly has dropped so much it helps keep me comfortable and able to breathe. So, we are just going to take it week by week cause Ivan and I both want her to just come on her own. Monday they will measure my AFI again, so we will see how it is and what Dr. Higby thinks. Sometimes it is hard having 2 different doctors cause they both want 2 different things to happen. But, since I have been seeing Dr. Higby longer and he is the one monitoring Sofia, I feel better doing what he wants. He wants Sofia to stay in as long as possible! Now if I get to 41 or 42 weeks then we can discuss an induction!

Baby Jackson, who is still on ECMO, had his hernia repair surgery today. Being on ECMO during the operation is something they don't do too often. The docs did come out and talk to his parent's this afternoon and said that he is doing well. Only about 1/3 of his diaphram was there, so they had to use a Gore-Tex patch to make the repair. They did also say that he did have a good amount of lung tissue which is a really big thing. Last night on Baby Drew's blog they posted that as long as he did well overnight that they would also be doing his repair surgery today. There haven't been any updates posted yet, so I am not sure if they did the operation today or not. Baby Avery is putting up a fight. Lauren posted that the nurses call her a "little diva" because she wants a lot of attention! They tried to take her off of her muscle relaxes and it turned out to be too early and all her stats dropped. It took them about 2 hours to get her stable again. Just reading these other blogs you can tell how exhausted these parents are, they all keep telling me to get as much rest now as possible cause after Sofia is here we are going to be really busy. Please remember these babies and all CDH babies in your prayers.

I will update again on Monday after my appointment unless something happens sooner! Thank you all, again, for reading and for keeping Sofia in your prayers. You have no idea how much your prayers are appreciated.

Love, Catherine
