Hi everyone...sorry for taking so long to update but its been a hectic few days. It's "Fiesta" time in San Antonio and downtown is one giant party with the hospital situated right in the middle. We've had to get passes and go through police barricades to get in to see Sofia. Thank goodness it's over tonight. Catherine hasn't been feeling well at all with headaches and swelling and pain in her abdominal area. So Ivan had her in ER last night. Good thing they went turns out she has an infection and her blood pressure was so high they kept her four hours finally releasing her around 2:30 am. Her blood pressure was still at 197/102 but they had given her medication and prescribed more medication. So she left and went to see Sofia. Ivan had left for

home so she was there by herself. She was talking to Sofia's nurse when all of a sudden Sofia opened her eyes and looked right at her Mommy! You can imagine Catherine's joy and surprise. But let me back up and catch you up on Sofia's progress. She is doing quite well actually. Yesterday, Friday, they removed her left chest tube and water sealed one of the right chest tubes. Today they clamped it. If she tolerates it it will be removed Sunday morning. The third chest tube is still draining so we aren't sure when that will be removed. Also yesterday Sofia was put on a conventional vent. Wednesday Sofie was taken off the pavulon and is occasionally awake. They still keep her pretty sedated because she gets agitated and cries and her sats drop. They have completely taken her off the
dobutamine and have weaned the magnesium sulfate. She continues to have a good amount of urine output, so they have not had to treat her with any diuretics. Sofie's surgeon saw her this

morning and said that surgery would possibly be this Monday. He is supposed to meet with Catherine and Ivan on Sunday. I may stay at hospital Sunday night with Cat if so we will update as soon as possible. Ivan swears Sofia said da da, I said that was Nana! ha ha Today she was looking back and forth between her parents as they spoke to her. Unfortunately I have yet to be there when her eyes are open...hopefully tomorrow. Well I shall sign off for now, Catherine sends her love. Please continue to pray for our baby as well as all of our CDH babies and please say a little prayer for my baby, Catherine that she will feel better soon. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. God bless, good night.
Love,
Yvonne
